By now, everyone who’s ever been to a tech conference knows how difficult it is to get a quick interview with a startup.
But what if you’re one of the lucky few to land a job at a startup?
It’s a tricky job that requires a lot of creativity and a willingness to be flexible.
It’s also one that requires you to be prepared to adapt and learn quickly, even if that means taking on a lot more responsibility.
To find out how you can get a better job at an innovative startup, we spoke to seven startups in the U.S. and abroad that are doing exactly what they set out to do when they were founding their startups.

We asked a few of our top-ranked startups to give us some insight into how they interview and the questions they ask.
This article is for both candidates who want to jump right in and also those who want a more structured approach.

Here’s what they said about how to prepare:Interviewing for a position is a bit like being a politician in that you need to know the people who are in the room with you and what their issues are.
The person you’re interviewing with has a lot to say.
You need to ask a lot and be open to feedback.
The key is to have a clear idea of who they are and why they’re relevant.
In this example, we were interviewing for a leadership position.
Our candidate had been a VP of Operations at a tech company for five years and had also been involved in an earlier iteration of the company.
In this case, we wanted to get to know him better and learn more about his background and the role he played.
We also asked a question about how he got started in the business, and what it was like to grow up in a small town.
He was from a small-town background.
We wanted to find out what he had done outside of the tech world.
What you learn about the interview will help you understand the person you are interviewing with and the skills they’re looking for.
